AEM Tru-Time adjustable cam gears are an essential mechanical upgrade for high-performance street, circuit, and drift engines utilizing aggressive aftermarket camshaft profiles, forced induction setups, or increased compression ratios. Designed to replace your fixed factory camshaft sprockets, these precision vernier gears provide the crucial adjustment needed to perfectly align your engine's valve timing with its overall state of tune.

Every genuine AEM cam gear is meticulously CNC-machined from ultra-lightweight 6061-T6 billet aluminum, drastically reducing rotational mass compared to heavy cast-iron OEM units for crisper throttle response. To ensure maximum durability on high-RPM race tracks, the outer gear teeth feature a specialized hard-anodized treatment. Lab-tested to be the hardest anodizing on the market, this ultra-tough surface finish prevents premature timing belt wear over thousands of kilometers of hard driving.

Why Adjustable Vernier Gears Are Crucial:
When a cylinder head is milled, or a block is decked by more than 0.005", the physical distance between the crankshaft and the camshaft drops. This slight slack retards your engine's valve timing automatically. AEM Tru-Time gears feature highly accurate, laser-etched markings on the leading edge, allowing a tuner to advance or retard the cam profile in clear one-degree increments on a dynamometer—optimizing your powerband exactly where you need it.
