Description

The MSD 8222 Blaster High-Vibration Canister Ignition Coil is the premier choice for race cars, extreme off-road trucks, marine craft, and harsh high-RPM engine bay environments. Unlike traditional oil-filled coils that bubble, leak, or fail when shaken, the sturdy metal housing of the MSD High-Vibration Blaster is completely potted with a premium-grade epoxy. This resin encases the primary and secondary windings entirely, isolating internal electrical connections from both high- and low-frequency vibrations.

Because it is completely solid-state internally, the MSD 8222 can be mounted in any orientation—including flat on its side or completely upside down—without risking hot spots or internal shorts. Engineered with a 100:1 turns ratio and a ultra-low primary resistance, this coil produces an incredible peak output of up to 45,000 Volts. It is optimized to supply a blinding, crisp blue spark when paired with an MSD 6-Series or 7-Series capacitive discharge (CD) ignition control box, though it can easily be used with aftermarket electronic ignitions or classic points distributors (note: points setups require an external ballast resistor).
